Mabrur Islam (he/him)

Director of Advocacy

Hello, I'm Mabrur! As the Executive Director of Advocacy at MUNSU, I take pride in representing more than 11,000 undergraduate students at Memorial University. My work aims to be the voice for students, especially on issues that matter most to them, like tuition fairness, housing rights, and creating a more inclusive campus community.

In my role, I work one-on-one with students to help resolve their concerns, including addressing issues with professors, assisting with late course drops, and many other areas of student concern. I am highly responsible and committed to echoing the cause of our student populace within the university administration, policymakers, and other stakeholders to drive meaningful change.

I work with campus groups and external organizations in collaboration with students themselves to hatch innovative ideas for new solutions, in making student life better, while empowering them to succeed both in their academic and personal lives. Beyond my advocacy work, I’ve spent the last three years as a sales consultant for a renowned company here in St. John’s and have managed an NGO on the side, further shaping my skills in leadership, problem-solving, and community engagement.

Whether student grievances, recommendations, or questions, I am available and ready to take them up! Let’s work together to shape a stronger and more vibrant university experience for everyone.
