Any undergraduate student interested in running in the upcoming election can get a nomination form from our elections webpage: munsu.ca/elections, or by emailing Riley Tucker, the MUNSU Chief Returning Officer who will be overseeing the election, at cro@munsu.ca
Nomination papers must follow these guidelines:
Signatures can be collected online on an individual basis, but no social media posts can be made until the campaign period, under our policies.
Executive nomination forms must be signed by at least 80 union members and no more than 100.
Non-Executive Board forms must be signed by at least 20 union members and no more than 40,
Resource Center forms must be coordinated between the Resource Center in question and the CRO.
Only Undergraduate students of the MUN St. John’s Campuses are Union Members.
For purposes of validation, each signatory nominator must also include their student number.
For specific faculty / school representatives, valid nominators must be declared in a program of the appropriate faculty/school

March 2nd at 9 am to March 16th at 9 pm.
Candidate Debates
The following event spaces will allow for voters to interface with candidates and candidates to meet their constituents. Executives are to be required to attend as many as possible, with special attention and care paid to the Executive Forum on Voting Day. Some events may be broadcasted through MUNSU socials, and through those of candidates.

Positions
You can run for a number of positions on the MUNSU board, so long as you submit packages before April 9th to cro@munsu.ca
The MUNSU Board of Directors is composed of twenty-one elected representatives including five Executive members, faculty representatives, and constituency representatives. Terms for the positions are from May 1st to April 30th. Elections are held annually in March. A by-election to fill vacant positions is held in the Fall Semester as needed.
The Board of Directors is responsible for managing the Students’ Union and meets throughout the year to discuss issues of concern to students. The Board is also responsible for organizing campaigns and services of the Union, and ensuring that they meet the needs of members.
Board members are required to serve on at least two Students’ Union committees. These committees report to the Board on a regular basis to inform decisions on matters such as finances, entertainment, campaigns, and other services.
Executive Directors
Members of the Executive are responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the Union, including operating its services and implementing its campaigns strategy. By working with the committees of the Board, and through regular reporting to the Board, the Executive is responsible for maintaining open and transparent processes while engaging members and the BoD to play an active role in Union business.
Executives will work from May 1, 2025 to April 30, 2026 at 35 hours per week, with 15 paid vacation days.
Our services include the Breezeway, our on campus bar, the Attic, our on campus print service and convenience store, CHMR, our campus radio station, and The MUSE, our student newspaper. We also oversee such services as our Campus Grocery Shuttles and Ride Safe, in addition to providing students with Greenshield Health Insurance and an hour of free legal counsel.
Executives also help oversee the working committees of the Union, overseeing its funding allocations, its policy and directives, and the operation of 7 Resource Centers, in addition to over 200 clubs and societies.

They are expected to interface with their faculty’s students, and will be given support and training in working with administration and faculty.

MUNSU currently operates seven resource centres. Our resource centres are safe meeting spaces, information and knowledge hubs, and peer support networks within the greater MUN community. Each resource centre was established in recognition of the needs of communities of students who are historically oppressed and marginalized and operate under a mandate challenging oppression and discrimination on campus.
