Confidence Votes

The following seats require a confidence votes from their respective faculties,
and will claim the seats with 50%+1 majority of active voters.

Executive Director of Finance - Farhan Ishrak Probandho

MUNSU finances are bleeding, it’s time to do something about it.

1) The Breezeway should be the cornerstone of campus life, but for years we’ve seen it neglected and abandoned. Let’s change it.

I’m talking weekly parties, watch parties, tournaments, screech ins and many many more. We own a bar, how cool is that? Let’s revitalize the Breezeway.

2) We need better food options on campus. Food insecurity is a big problem, and it’s time MUNSU does something to address it.

3) This is election year, and MUN needs funding to survive as we know it. It is imperative that we lobby the government and support the FUND MUN campaign.

4) Last but the least, MUNSU needs more financial transparency so the membership can hold it accountable.

Executive Director of Campaigns - Rana Abuidris
A Leader Who Listens. A Voice That Fights for You.

I’m Rana Abuidris, and I’m running to be your next Director of Campaigns at the Memorial University Students’ Union. I know what it’s like to struggle—to feel unheard, overwhelmed, and unsure of where to turn. As students, we face real challenges, from mental health struggles to rising rent and an underfunded campus, but we shouldn’t have to face them alone.

I refuse to accept that “this is just how it is.” I believe in the power of students coming together to demand better. I believe in action, not just words. If elected, I will fight for:

Better Mental Health Support – More funding for student mental health services, expanded counseling hours, peer support networks, and culturally competent care so that no student is left behind.
Affordable Student Housing – Stronger rental protections, emergency housing support, and more student housing options to make living in St. John’s more accessible and secure.

Improved Campus Infrastructure – Better study spaces, upgraded classrooms, reliable heating, and accessibility improvements to create a campus that supports student success.

Student Political Power – A Get Out the Vote campaign to ensure students are registered, informed, and ready to hold politicians accountable.

Your vote is your power. Let’s use it to fight for the future we deserve.

Engineering B - Aayushman Srivastava

Hi, I am Aayushman and I usually go by Ash! I was born and raised in Delhi, India and moved to Newfoundland to pursue a Co-op Mechanical Engineering program. I like rock climbing, hiking, running, adventuring and most creative activities. As an engineering student, you might have seen me as a Success Center Tutor, in MUN BAJA, MUNRobosub, Sidus Robotics, Airntell Aerospace or during my term as SDH assistant student if not in classes!
It would be an honour to represent society B and their concerns with a loud and reasonable voice!

HSS 1/3 - Sanaa Mrad

Hello, everyone. My name is Sanaa Mrad (she/her), and I’m a first-year Syrian Canadian student majoring in Communication and Media Studies with a minor in Business Administration. Over the past year, I worked with MUNSU as the “Undeclared Student Rep.” It was a great position, and I had the chance to make friends and help students.

In my free time, I enjoy hanging out with friends, doing homework, and admiring beautiful cats. Growing up, Syria was a country devastated by years of civil war,  which got me developing a deep passion for fighting against the war, raising awareness, and standing up for human rights. I'm passionate to fight systemic inequality and strive to make a difference.

When I learned about MUNSU, I immediately knew it aligned with my values and goals. As a second-time Board Director, I aim to continue the work of previous HSS Representatives, which includes advocating for funding MUN and working towards lasting peace, including a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, and the list goes on.

Please reach out to me at smmrad@mun.ca , I’m more than happy to help!

My name is Hannah (she/her), and I acknowledge with deference the territory in which we gather as the sacred and ancestral homelands of diverse Indigenous groups. I have held many council positions, volunteered with various agencies, and completed a placement throughout my degree dedicated to promoting solidarity and breaking down societal barriers for marginalized folks. My experience has made me believe cultivating a sense of community and strong bonds is essential to mobilizing meaningful change. Considering this, my intentions running for social work representative are clear: collaboratively engage with students to ensure their identified concerns are recognized and addressed.

Social work students are actively revolutionizing the profession and advocating to enhance resources for all persons in an evolving world. They deserve their voices validated and the delivery of an educational environment that supports their vital efforts in advancing an equitable society, which we can collectively achieve."

Maahin Khan for Director of Student Life!

I’ve spent years on the ground, advocating, organizing, and building community at MUN. Over the past year, I’ve worked to bridge the gap between students and student organizations, collaborating with resource centers, clubs, and societies to host large-scale events, creating more inclusive and engaging student experiences. With extensive hands-on experience in hosting and managing large-scale events, working across different teams, and ensuring student life thrives, I’m ready to take it to the next level. As Director of Student Life, I will strengthen clubs and societies, create bigger and better campus events, and build a more connected, inclusive student community. Let’s make student life stronger, more vibrant, and more accessible—together!

Balancing two degrees while working on the side has given me a unique understanding of the challenges we all face. These qualities make me well-prepared to represent you effectively and advocate for the changes we need.

Parneet Kaur

Hey everyone!

I’m Parneet Kaur, and I’m running for the position of Business Rep. with MUNSU this year.

I am also currently the Director of International Representation for the MUN Commerce Society, where I’ve worked closely with students from diverse backgrounds and have seen the gaps that need to be bridged. However, I have faced issues raising my voice and dealing with the faculty directly. With MUNSU, I believe that I will get the power to voice the issues faced by business students, and to make changes for the betterment of students in the business faculty.

Together, we can create a stronger, more connected business community!

Feel free to email me at parneetk@mun.ca to connect, I'm always up for a chat! :)

Vote Rubayat Tasneem Hossain for Business Representative at MUN - Lassoing change for you!

I am Rubayat Tasneem Hossain. I am a third year business student from Bangladesh. I am also a cosplayer, dancer, and an anime enthusiast - someone who loves creativity, commununity, and connections. But most importantly, I am also someone who understands the challenges we face as business students at MUN. As a business student at Memorial, I know many of us feel overlooked when it comes to real opportunities that could shape our careers. We have to juggle through academics, work, and extracurricular activities. Yet we are still left searching for internships, struggling to find funding for our clubs, and missing out on networking and business competitions. It’s frustrating, and it should not be this way. I am here to change that. I am running for Business Representative to fight for more internships, more club funding, more competitions, and stronger networking opportunities. Vote for me! Let’s make real change happen!

Tobi Emioladipupo

Vote Srizon for Business Faculty Rep – because business students deserve better!

I’m Srizon, a third-year BCom student, and I’m running to be your Business Faculty Representative with MUNSU!

Balancing university and work has shown me how tough it can be to stay on top of everything—especially when thinking about what comes after graduation. The job market isn’t getting any easier, and I know many of us are looking for more support when it comes to career readiness and opportunities. As your representative, I want to push for better resources, stronger industry connections, and real advocacy for students. Because business students deserve better.

I’m also committed to advocating against the tuition hikes and funding cuts that have made education less accessible. Business students deserve a fair, affordable education, and I will work to ensure that our concerns are heard and addressed.

Business students work hard—we deserve the same level of commitment from our representatives, and I’m here to make business students a priority. I’m ready to put in the work, speak up, and push for the changes we need. But this is just the beginning—if elected, I’ll make sure business students don’t just have a seat at the table, but a real voice in the conversation. Let’s make it happen together!

Science (3 Seats)

Rebecca Penton

Hi! My name is Bec and I am in my fourth year of BSc. Human Biosciences & minor in Psychology. I am a proud advocate for students rights within and amongst our university.

As a woman in STEM, I am honoured to be running again for the MUNSU Board of Directors.

I aspire to bring safety, equity and inclusion to our campus along with taking opinions, questions and concerns from a wide range of students. I wish to learn, experience and conquer great things on the MUNSU Board of Directors.

Let me help YOU have a voice!

Julian Sutton

I’m a third year Human Biosciences student interested in research. In my time at MUN I’ve had a multitude of experiences, allowing me to meet so many people both inside and outside the faculty of science.

I know what it’s like to be a student in the sciences. I know my peers and their struggles. I intend to represent science students and help bridge the gap between the student body and policymakers.

I aspire to be a friendly face, and one of the first people you think of when you have concerns or need help. Through MUNSU I hope to give a voice to all students and empower those who struggle to be heard, in the spirit of an equitable academic environment."

Taqi Yeasir

Hello everyone! I’m Taqi Yeasir, and I’m running for Science Representative in the MUNSU elections on March 24th and 25th. I am currently in my third year studying Economics, and my goal is to create a strong platform where all science students can connect, share their concerns, and support each other. Even without my presence, this platform will ensure that students continue to benefit.

Since I work with economic graphs and data, I will use my expertise to help guide students in understanding complex academic issues. Additionally, I plan to establish a volunteer tutoring team available during library hours to assist students with their studies.

Beyond academics, I am passionate about fighting for important global issues, including the U.S. tariff war, the Palestine conflict, human rights, and reducing tuition fees. I am committed to making a positive impact, and I hope to earn your support in this election!”

Sarker Saad Ahmed

For the 2025–2026 academic year, I, Sarker Saad Ahmed, am honored to be a candidate for MUNSU Faculty of Science Representative, making history as the first-ever candidate from a Physics and Applied Mathematics background. Despite Memorial University having a vast number of science students, their voices remain unheard in critical decisions affecting academics, funding, and research resources. The current system is limited and biased, failing to provide equal support across all disciplines.

As a Faculty of Science Representative, I will work to eliminate these barriers and advocate for fair distribution of resources, improved teaching quality, and enhanced research equipment. My role will serve as a bridge between MUN and all science faculties, ensuring that every student—regardless of their discipline—has equal opportunities and representation. Together, we can create an inclusive, well-rounded scientific community where every voice is valued.

Let’s build a better future for all science students at MUN!

Vote Srizon for VP External – Because International Students Deserve More!

ISC exists to support international students, but support means nothing without action. For it to truly make an impact, it needs stronger connections, real advocacy, and a louder voice. As VP External, I’m ready to take ISC beyond just being a space—building relationships, securing resources, and making sure international students are heard where it matters.

With years of experience in sales and customer relations, I know how to communicate, negotiate, and make things happen. I know how to get through to the right people, and I won’t waste time playing it safe. ISC needs to be more than just a name—it needs to be recognized, respected, and resourced. I’ll make sure ISC builds stronger ties with MUNSU, clubs, societies, and decision-makers who can actually make a difference for international students.

I’m also standing firmly against tuition hikes and funding cuts and being the VP External, I'll fight for the solution.

This isn’t just about making ISC look good on paper. It’s about getting real results—more support, better opportunities, and a stronger sense of community for all of us.
