The MUN Medicine Infectious Diseases Interest Group (IDIG) seeks to bring together students with a special interest in infectious disease and medical microbiology in order to provide a forum for new learning experiences. The group organizes speakers and workshops relating to infectious disease research, training, testing and medical microbiology.
The Infectious Disease Interest Group strives to supplement the learning of medical learners in topics involving infectious disease through the shared real-life experiences of physicians and researchers in the field. This information is usually given in the form of scheduled presentations and covers a variety of material. Some topics of interest we may cover include history of provincial infectious disease outbreak, spread of disease vectors, emerging infectious disease, infectious disease research, clinical practice for handling infectious disease and more.
