Quazi Mohammed Abrar Nafis
Hello, Salaam, Hola, مرحبا, Bonjour, নমস্কার, Hello from all corners of the world!
My name is Quazi Mohammad Abrar Nafis, and I’m truly honoured to be serving as your International Students’ Representative at MUNSU this year. I’m currently in my fourth year at Memorial, pursuing a major in Human Biosciences and a minor in Gender Studies. I’m also proud to be an international student from Bangladesh,a land of deep-rooted culture, unity, and warmth. Alongside this role, I am beginning two other incredible journeys: as the President of the International Students Resource Centre (ISC) and as the Racialized Students' Representative for the Canadian Federation of Students Newfoundland and Labrador (CFS-NL). These roles come from the same heart and a passion for community, equity, and inclusion.
My vision this year is to ensure that international students feel more than just accommodated. We deserve to feel empowered, celebrated, and supported in every aspect of our university experience. I’m committed to advocating for financial justice, accessible medical care, and academic resources that reflect our diverse realities and needs. I also hope to help build a welcoming space where international students can connect, share stories, and feel truly at home on campus while actively decolonizing campus narratives and uplifting cultural pride, so no one ever feels they must leave parts of themselves behind in order to belong.. More than anything, I want to be a familiar and approachable face, someone you can turn to with your ideas, concerns, or simply for a heartfelt conversation.
Being an international student can be challenging, but it can also be powerful, beautiful, and full of hope. My door (and inbox!) is always open. Let’s build something incredible, together..
