Kyla Meghan Johnson (she/her)

My name is Kyla Meghan Johnson (She/Her) and I am a second-year Bachelor of Arts Memorial University student. This is my second term as Indigenious Students Representative, and my first term as Co-Chair for the Circle and Canadian Federation of Students (Local 35). I am very passionate about advocating indigenous rights, solidarity, decolonizing, and reconciliation pratices. I am originally from Yellowknife, NWT and am part of the 'Yellowknives Dene First Nations' Band, I am also part of Treaty #6 and Akaitcho Territority Government. I also enjoy beading as a hobby/buisness, please follow me on Facebook or Instagram 'Shattered Beads'.

While I may not own any children of my own, I do own two Emotional Support Animals, they are both cats and they are my babies. Tina born approx May 1, 2020 is a sassy (scaredy-cat) tripod tuxedo, and Nellie born approx September 1, 2019 is a high energic short-hair domestic tabby/bengal mix, who doesn't believe in personal bubbles and will jump onto your shoulders with no permission asked. Last but not least, I enjoy working with the 'Juniper House' which is the Indigenious Student Resource Center and a home away from home safespace for self-claimed Indigenous memorial students.

Please feel free to reach me at indigenous@munsu.ca, or circlecochair@cfs-fcee.ca if you have any issues or concerns, and or would just like to chat. I'd love to help out anyway I could.

Kyla is also the Circle of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Students Co-Chair for CFS.
