Trans Day of Remembrance Vigil

 In Uncategorized

At 6:30pm on November 20th, in UC 2001 on the MUN St. John’s Campus, we would like to bring people together for Transgender Day of Remembrance.

Transgender Day of Remembrance was founded in 1999 to memorialize the murder of transgender woman Rita Hester in Allston, Massachusetts; on this day every year, people come together to remember trans folx who suffered and are suffering under heteronormativity, racism, sexism, and transphobia.

This year, we come together to focus on local issues; with the recent education based violence of transphobic posters on campus, and with the continued denial of trans focused education across the province by concerned parents.
