The Campus Food Bank
The Campus Food Bank was established in 1996 and is registered as a food bank with the Community Food Sharing Association. The MUN Students' Union provides financial assistance, holds food drives, and donates proceeds of all recycling in the University Centre and Breezeway Bar to the Food Bank. Many departments, clubs, societies and other groups hold food drives and fundraisers throughout the year - it's a great way to help out! The Food Bank is staffed by volunteers, and new volunteers, and new volunteers are always welcome. Donations of food may be dropped off at the Food Bank, which is located in the basement of Corte Real or alternatively at the Students' Union office.
To utilize the Food Bank, students must provide their MCP number or, in the case of out-of-province students, a student number will suffice. The Food Bank can be reached by phone at 737-3467 or by email at foodbank@mun.ca
Legal Aid
The Students' Union offers a free legal service to any student who requires it. A Legal Aid Supervisor is available to talk to students or provide referrals to a lawyer. In this case, the cost of a one-hour consultation will be paid for by the Students' Union. Sessions with the Legal Aid supervisor are not considered extended legal counsel. If you require this service, please contact the Students' Union office at 737-7633.
