About the No Means No Campaign
No Means No is a campaign of the Canadian Federation of Students which seeks to address gender-based violence and date rape through awareness and action. Since its beginning, this campaign has succeeded in changing the culture surrounding acquaintance rape and dating violence in Canada. No Means No continues to be widely popular on campuses and in the greater community where thousands of materials are ordered every year and circulated across Canada. Various materials have been developed as part of the campaign, including research on the incidences of sexual violence in Canada, buttons, stickers, posters and postcards.
Today, thanks in large part to public education provided through the No Means No campaign, people have a greater understanding of their rights and responsibilities in sexual relationships. However, date rape and dating violence continues to occur on campuses and in our communities requiring the continued promotion of this campaign.
As part of its commitment to promote safe spaces and a healthy campus community, the MUN Students’ Union features No Means No materials in its spaces and services, and works to educate members at every possible opportunity.
